Thanks to the STEP volunteers that helped us at the steelhead trap. We had a lot of fun and learned a lot about salmon and their life cycle. We appreciate everything that you do for us and look forward to working with you in the future.
During our trip to Wittaker creek, I enjoyed catching stealhead in the nets most. I liked the feeling on being in the trap, so close to the fish. Although, it was a little weird feeling fish swim by me. The opportunity to be in the trap, and help these fish mate, plus releasing them back into the river was really fun experience. Thank you to all of the scientists and volunteers that made this trip possible. I had a great time.
I liked catching the the fish andseeing hoe many times that they have been in the ocean. survived seel and sea lion attacks. it was really fun exept the fact that torin kept on slapping and hitting me i have tons of bruises on my arm and my face hurts.
At that feild trip we learned about anatomy and the siuslaw watershed and also about stealhead it was fun and thank you to all the scientists who helped make this possible
That day we went to Witaker creak. We all had lots of fun on this trip. The STEP group, most people in Mr. Marohl's Stream Team class, and Mr. Grano went.We caught fish in giant nets, there were 41 fish in the trap, the water was clear and low.And we also did a steal head dissection.
Our stream team went to Whittaker Creak, or, at least I'm trying to remember how to spell it. We went with our teacher Mr. Marohl and two wonderful volunteers. I don't know their names, and probably never will, but there was a nice lady with a dog (she dissapeared after a while, I wonder where she went) and another guy we picked up. What we did there was go down into a fish trap (after a brief conversation) and we tried to catch fish with a net so the men could tell if they were recaptured or new. Then, after getting all wet, we went back near the bus and watched Mr. Marohl disect a fish. It was discusting. Soon after we had our lunch we set out back to school. It was avery interesting trip, and I think it was a lot of fun standing in the fish trap where all the fish will hit you. You just had to be careful not to fall into a small hole they had so the fish could rest. We should go back again, soon!
